Nature of APSSA as an Organization

APSSA is an association of student affairs practitioners in full time employment in higher education institutions around the world to work together for sharing and learning. The association is registered as a society under the registration of society ordinance of the Hong Kong government and is a legal entity independent from any government, institution or professional body.

It is a self sustaining organization with financial resources generated from membership subscriptions and surpluses from conference and training activities and human resources from generous and dedicated contributions of talents, time and efforts by its members. Taking note of foreign currency controls and relatively low cost of living in some countries,  it has provisions for institutional members allowing individuals so nominated by their institutions to enjoy full membership rights.

The association works on good understanding that its members, as employees of the their own institutions, must follow the vision, missions, objectives and ways of operation of their institutions and will not take up issues in relation to developments of individual countries and institutions and employment of individuals.  Its main goal is to provide a platform for practitioners from around the world to come and work together according to their collective interests beyond and above their normal call of duties in their employment for their own personal development in depth and breadth of knowledge and experience, for enhancement of their work quality,  for contribution to development of student affairs in higher education, as well as for serving as good role models for their peers and students on international team work and unselfish giving.
